House

Home is wherever you are with people that unlock the best in you. I aim to build a house to provide a shelter for coming together and existing in shared solitude.

Inspired by Johnny and Carl writing up about plans and experiences, and lengthy conversations with Anton.

Ethos

Homes are about people. They should be a place to provide for safety and a feeling of ease.

A space for people to be themselves and unfold their full potential, not being scared to share intimate details about the odds of being human. Being vulnerable should be warmly welcomed.

Reductive forms and thoughtful design to help regain focus and live a more meaningful life.

Entering the estate should inspire a sense of freedom, creativity, peace, wonder, and joy.

A large amount of modularity should be taken into account to enhance sustainability and sober growth.

Rooms

A breakdown of divided areas in the property. Set to shelter 2 people at default, with the option to host at least 3 more.

Generally, there should be a vast amount of natural light with large windows, a connected sound system throughout the whole place, and no direct artificial lighting.

Hallway

Keyless entrance door to remotely share access.

Shoes and jackets mostly hidden, with an obvious place for guests to put their belongings.

Subtle lighting turning on automatically when entering.

Workspace

One large table with multiple setups, encouraging collaboration and exchange of ideas.

A quiet space for calls to prevent interruption of other people’s creative processes.

The whole area should be largely isolated from living areas to separate both and encourage rest when not interacting with work-related matters.

Bedrooms

No large closets to encourage reflection upon consumption, but also provide for a mindful and clean space.

Floor-to-ceiling windows for a maximum of natural light.

A space to charge digital devices—reaching them should require one to get up.

Kitchen

A low-profile silhouette without wall cabinets, made from 6063 aluminium, fenix, oak wood, or linoleum.

Brands: Termino, Reform.

Dining table should have a hidden box with power outlets for charging or on-table devices.

Living

A large sofa to host many friends and to prevent back pain.

Opposite, a free wall with a projector and a SONOS sound system.

Bathrooms

Sacred places with soft light.

Located away from common spaces to ensure privacy.

Outdoors

A small garden, perhaps with a little vegetable patch.
